Description
This solution provides a practical and low cost way of allowing students to understand the techniques of controlling DC motors. The solution is based on dsPIC technology. The equipments consists of a number of E-blocks boards mounted on a metal backplane, a programmer board, a switch board, an LCD board, a motor power board, a DC motor velocity control board and a DC motor position control board. Students can undertake a range of exercises from simple speed and direction control through to complex control using PID techniques with velocity and postion as key parameters.
Learning objectives include:
- Simple motor control - direction, speed
- Sensors in motor control systems: IR, F to V conversion, resistive
- PID control of velocity
- Servo systems
- PID control of position
- First and second order functions
- Flowchart programming using Flowcode (Flowcode not included)
Flowcode can be purchased separately and allows students to understand communications program and strategies without the complexity of C or Assembly code. The system can also be used with C and Assembly code (software not provided).
A 60+ page manual with student exercises is included in the free curriculum.
The Motor control training course curriculum is available to download for free from the resources tab above.
Please note, this solution requires Flowcode software in order to complete the course, which must be ordered separately.
