Description

The hydro container is a complete mini hydro power station having inside a Francis horizontal turbinegenerator island with the appropriate automation and telemetry system plus a smaller container with the necessary electrical switches and protection for the electrical connection to grid. This solution is equivalent to a complete hydro power station and/just only the penstock and the upper weir and the container concrete base and anchor have to be established by locals.
The power output of the mini hydro station is of course depending on the local H/Q conditionsis between 300kW – 2 MW. Due to physical/technical reasons the site need to have a H between approx. 55120 m and a Q between 12 m3/sec.

If besides the previously calculated drop height (55-120m) the river has more than the necessary 1-2 m3/sec discharge, we can use more effectively higher water discharge by installing and connecting parallel few containers. In this case we have to add only the quantity of containers with turbine-generator units and it can be supplied with a controlling container adjusted to the common system. Thus the specific investment of the cost per unit of the electricity production will be even better.

If we don't have the necessary drop-height for utilizing, but we have significant discharge of the river, instead of the above standard container decision we can build together few containers and supply the necessary place for larger mechanical units. Thus we can realize faster and more effective investment, and the on-site construction level and time of works can be reduced. For such requirements we can prepare individual offer in which we calculate the sizes and effectiveness of the mechanical and electrical equipments with optimal performance, the annual quantity of the electricity to be produced.

The basic hydropower plant:

  • On the basis of concrete location data, selection of the optimal hydropower plant type from container-installed mini hydropower plants of Ganz, calculation of electricity production efficiency and amount, return-on-investment calculations
  • Francis turbine (spiral case Francis turbine with own bearings, with guide vane regulation operated by a hydraulic slave cylinder, connection to the generator via a flexible shaft coupling, with intermediate maintenance closure piece, with hydraulically operated weight shut-off, with electrically operated by-pass valve, installation of centrifugal mass)
    If the stability of the system so requires, the installation of a centrifugal mass (on the basis of alculations performed on the basis of data relating to the specific location),
  • Synchronous generator 3x400 V 50 Hz (the synchronous generator has an automatic generation regulator and air-cooling, the turbine generator machine unit is installed on a common base frame, strengthening with this the container base-plate). Island operation mode, without synchronisation equipment.
  • The container containing the above equipment Electric switching equipment, Protection, rate of rotation regulation, control technology, system monitoring (in separate container)
  • System monitoring, the advantage of which is that it does not require operation personnel being continuously onsite. The system maybe remotely operated via satellite connection, mobile network, or via a landline or mobile
  • Internet connection. With the help of system monitoring the future owner has the opportunity to follow the operation of the facility by computer, tablet or even on a mobile telephone, and receive information on the amount of electricity produced.
  • Diesel generator for system start-up in the case of the lack of an electricity network,
  • Ventilation of the containers, heating-cooling, air-conditioning as required.
  • Complete documentation about the above units (Operation manual, lifting instructions, components list, general layout drawings, technical certifications)
  • Design of the water intake engineering units on the basis of the concrete location data.

Further characteristics of the basic hydropower plant:

  • Electricity output 400V/50 Hz, island operation mode, electricity connection within 50 m
  • 150 m diameter 800-as, plastic penstock conduit, above ground level, at a location accessible by vehicle
  • Design and construction of container foundations.
  • Generator may be 1 kV, 3 kV, 6 kV, 10 kV, 20 kV. Selection of the appropriate voltage level may take place in accordance with the local features. With synchronization equipment in the case of connection to electricity network.
  • Provision of 6 kV, 10 kV, 20 kV, 35 kV voltage level electricity output, or the output requested by the customer, connection to electricity network, construction of power lines according to customer demands
  • Subsurface or other special penstock construction, construction location isolated from public roads, work performed on the basis of special permits and prescriptions
  • Ensuring the construction of penstock conduits in excess of 150 m
  • Performance of architectural work for the water intake engineering units and the supply and installation of these engineering units.
